Former co-directors of Solo: A Star Wars Story, Phil Lord, and Chris Miller, discuss their departure from the film.

It’s hard to believe that it’s now been almost half a year since Lord and Miller departed from directorial duties of Solo: A Star Wars Story. Veteran and Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard has taken full ownership of the project, apparently making the film his own.

Lord: “The experience of shooting the movie was wonderful. We had the most incredible cast and crew and collaborators.”

Recently, Lord and Miller discussed their time on the set of Solo, which would have been an entirely different film had they stayed on board.

How different, we may never know, but it’s intriguing hearing their thoughts for the first time since they were “fired” or “parted ways” from Solo, with Phil Lord speaking on behalf of the two film directors.

"We’re really proud of the work we did on the movie and we wish everybody the best."

Lord and Miller are definitely taking the high road from their dismissal from the Solo, but their friend, Bill Lawrence of Clone High, is taking a less classy approach.

"I hope that movie *expletive* the bed."

Lawrence goes on to gloat over his friends, rubbing salt in the wound, in a playful manner that is:

"I reached out to them afterward, and I could not hide my glee that something did not go right for these guys."

I totally understand Lawrence going to bat for his friends, but he is going to be disappointed with his wishes of the movie bombing.

With Ron Howard at the helm, and assistance from Lawrence Kasdan writing the film, the movie will be a sure-fire success.

Let’s not forget the cast, especially that of Woody Harrelson and the multi-talented and versatile Donald Glover.

Reports surfaced that over 80% of the film is the vision of Howard’s, so there won’t be much of Lord and Miller’s flavor mixed in.

Maybe one day, we will receive a director’s cut, with their full version of the film. For now, we will have to speculate and hope that Howard’s version delivers the goods.
