Andor Season 2 is the next Star Wars project scheduled for release, and the show's final season promises to be bigger and better, with stronger connections to Star Wars lore.

In a recently resurfaced 2022 interview with Collider's Steve Weintraub, taken before filming on Season 2 started, Gilroy discussed the addition of Tom Bissell to the show's writer's room. Bissell is a diehard Star Wars fan, something that's important to Season 2's success. Andor Season 2 will walk fans into the first scene of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and the series is set during the rise of the Rebellion, which means Season 2 has to touch upon several important events in canon.

Gilroy believes adding Bissell ensures the season will deliver on all fronts as the series heads to Rebel Headquarters on Yavin 4. Gilroy explains, "Tom Bissell is really cool and really, really interesting, versatile, really good writer. But also a very, very, very big Star Wars fan, which we really wanted to make sure we had another pro because we're going into Rogue, and we're going to Yavin, and then we're going into places where we eventually need to really weave our way back to the source."

While a trailer for Andor Season 2 was showcased at different events such as D23, it hasn't been released officially online. Fans were given a sneak peek of Season 2 in Disney's 2025 preview, which shows a glimpse of Cassian on Yavin 4 in what is likely the show's final arc. Yavin was the Rebel Alliance's main center of operations before it eventually moved to Hoth in the aftermath of the Battle of Yavin. As such, the return of Yavin could also mean the return of key members of the Rebel Alliance, including characters from shows like Star Wars Rebels.

With so much happening in the galaxy during the years covered in Andor Season 2, this season promises to have a classic Star Wars feel, so don't be surprised if it features several cameos. Aside from returning characters from Season 1 and Rogue One, including Mon Monthma, Bix Caleen, Luthen Rael, Saw Gerrera, and Melshi, Rebel heroes like Hera Syndulla could also make surprise appearances.

With Cassian's character taking center stage as a top-tier Rebel Alliance member, Season 2 promises a distinct tone, addressing fan concerns that Season 1 didn't fully capture the Star Wars essence.

Andor Season 2 premieres April 22 on Disney+.
