I think Collider said it best in their headline talking about "The Galaxy's Greatest Grifter," because Doctor Aphra is back in a new Star Wars comic book series from Marvel Comics starting this summer.

Star Wars: Doctor Aphra – Chaos Agent brings everyone's favorite mess of an archaeologist back to a galaxy far, far away. Via Collider, Aphra will team up with a very familiar Jedi: Luke Skywalker. The two will be setting out to some rare artifacts. Knowing this duo and the chaotic past they have working together, I'm excited to see how it all pans out. Especially with Aphra's tech tattoos, something that has been very much an important part of her character, don't seem to be working anymore. It'll be part of the mystery going forward.

The new series is written by Radiant Dawn writer Cherish Chen with Gabriel Guzman on the artwork. Chen shared her excitement along with a look at the covers on her Instagram, saying, "I’m prone to overly long captions but with this book, what can I say beyond life is crazy and this project has been unreal. Someone wake me. We’ve lined up some serious misadventures for the sassiest amoral archaeologist in the galaxy and I can’t wait for June 18."

As the mainline Star Wars comics are moving into the sequel era following The Battle of Jakku event, it's not surprising that Aprha got her own book too. She's a wildly popular character. She was introduced in the 2015 run of Darth Vader by Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larroca, and Alyssa Wong's run took Doctor Aphra to new heights. Both Gillen and Wong's runs were nominated for GLAAD awards as Aphra has become an important and one of the most well known queer characters in the Star Wars franchise.

Star Wars: Doctor Aphra – Chaos Agent from Marvel Comics will arrive at your local comic book store or on digital on June 18, 2025.
