Lucasfilm made waves recently when they announced The Mandalorian & Grogu and confirmed that a second season of Ahsoka is in development. While the movie announcement seemed to take away some of the attention from Ahsoka Season 2, fans are still hyped to see what season 2 holds for Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and whether her Master, Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) will return.

According to a new rumor via Insider Daniel Richtman, Hayden Christensen is all set to return as Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka Season 2. Although any rumors regarding upcoming projects should be taken with a grain of salt until the cast is officially announced, Richtman does get things right from time to time. While rumors are just rumors, Hayden's return as Anakin doesn't seem entirely far-fetched, as the final shot of the show was Force ghost Anakin Skywalker, which hints that he'll be back.

If Hayden does return, it's fun to speculate what Anakin's role will be in Season 2. Will he appear as a Force ghost to Ahsoka while she goes through trials on Peridea? Will we get to see more Clone Wars-era flashbacks of the duo? The possibilities are endless, and Dave Filoni has, thus far, done an outstanding job of utilizing Hayden's acting abilities. Chapter 5, "Shadow Warrior," is nothing short of a masterpiece that left many fans itching to see more of Hayden in Anakin's Clone Wars-era armor.

"Shadow Warrior" served as a new beginning for Ahsoka after her trip to the World Between Worlds helped her move on from her past, including her guilt over abandoning Anakin and passing on his teachings to her Padawan, Sabine Wren. The episode helped her accept Anakin's fall to the dark side and realize that she could move on and be the best teacher for Sabine by passing on all the good things he taught her. Perhaps, in Season 2, Ahsoka and Anakin can finally begin to communicate again.

In the final few minutes of the show, it seems Ahsoka can sense Anakin's presence of Peridea, but she's yet to see him with her own eyes. Her trip to the World Between Worlds and her hologram recordings of Anakin don't come close to how exciting it will be for her to speak to him again in person after all these years. Hopefully, if Hayden returns, we'll see this happen!

For now, however, this is merely a rumor and shouldn't be taken too seriously. Don't expect Lucasfilm to officially confirm whether or not Hayden will be back, as they never confirmed his involvement in Ahsoka Season 1 and are likely to continue the same level of secrecy in the future.
