4 characters who should be in Skeleton Crew
It's always exciting when a new Star Wars show is coming. Skeleton Crew will be here before we know it in December, which means it's time to wildly speculate on who might show up as a cameo or play a role in the series. This list isn't going to be people who are already in the Mandoverse. There will be plenty of time to wonder if we'll get Din Djarrin, Thrawn, Ahsoka Tano, and other main characters on other shows. I still stand by my tin foil hat theory that Lucasfilm is hiding Jacen Syndulla from the marketing. Let's discuss those characters who haven't been in the Mandoverse yet.
Here are 4 characters that could show up in Skeleton Crew.
1. Chewbacca
While I am a firm believer that Lucasfilm should embrace recasting actors (Billie Lorde is right there to play Leia. Heck, she has already played Leia!), it doesn't look like they're looking to bring in new blood to play original trilogy characters anytime soon. However, one character who doesn't have to worry about aging is Chewbacca.
Chewbacca would fit right in with Skeleton Crew, especially since it is promoted as a show for the entire family. Children love Chewbacca, making him a great bridge between the original trilogy and this young cast of new characters in the sequel trilogy era. Joonas Suotamo has brought so much love to playing the Wookiee thanks to studying under Peter Mayhew before he passed.
2. Vi Morardi
We don't know when Skeleton Crew is set, but it's probably before the events of Phasma or Galaxy's Edge: Black Spire which are both by Delilah S. Dawson. That doesn't mean that a young Vi Moradi couldn't appear along the way. It would be a nice way to tie together Galaxy's Edge to the series. This isn't the first time a book character has made their crossover into the Mandoverse with both Cobb Vanth and Black Krrsantan stepping out of the pages into live action. Perhaps the kids of Skeleton Crew inspire a young Vi to fight back and join the Resistance.
3. Hondo Ohnaka
I'm not going to spend too much time on everyone's favorite pirate Hondo Ohnaka, because we have an excellent article deep diving on why he'd be great in Skeleton Crew. But the "Too Long; Didn't Read" version is Hondo has already been a staple character in the animated series. We know he's around in this time period. Like Cad Bane in The Book of Boba Fett, where Corey Burton and Dorian Kingi brought the bounty hunter to life, they could have an actor portraying him while Jim Cummings voices his character. Also, Hondo loves kids. Thanks to the youngling arc in The Clone Wars and his bond with Ezra Bridger in Star Wars Rebels, we know he adores kids. Like Vi, it would be a great way to connect him back to the Disney Parks, too.
4. Kazuda Xiono
To be totally honest, any of the adult characters from Star Wars Resistance are much more likely to show up before Kaz. We know that Jarek Yeager was at the Battle of Jakku, Venisa Doza was in the Rebellion, and Imanuel Doza, along with Griff Halloran, left the Empire to join the good guys. All of the adult characters are far more likely to be helping Hera Syndulla, Mon Mothma, and the New Republic with setting up a new government in this post-Imperial world.
Still, ever since we got Hamato Xiono in Ahsoka, I've had a little wish in my heart to see Kaz as a child, even if it's a small cameo. I don't care if he's a baby or a toddler chilling in the background while his senator dad is working. I want to see my klutzy boy. As a Star Wars Resistance fan, getting any nods to the underappreciated show is always great. While I'd love to see Kaz as a kid (maybe he's in the same class as the kids in the Skeleton Crew trailer), I'd take any love to Resistance at this point.
