Star Wars clears up confusion regarding Skeleton Crew's timeline
Empire Magazine has been giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at Star Wars' upcoming live-action series, Skeleton Crew.
Via ScreenRant, Empire has confirmed that Skeleton Crew is "set concurrently with The Mandalorian and Ahsoka." Earlier, rumors suggested the show was set sometime during The Mandalorian Season 1, but taking place concurrently with Season 3 and Ahsoka makes more sense and opens the door to cameos from characters within the timeline.
Skeleton Crew will follow a group of kids seeking adventure as they find themselves lost in a strange galaxy where everything is new to them. Along the way, they'll meet a gang of pirates, one that fans were introduced to during The Mandalorian Season 3, and a "new kind of Jedi" named Jod Na Nawood, played by Jude Law. The kids' home planet, a picture-perfect suburban utopia, has everyone intrigued and eager to see how Star Wars handles suburbia. However, there's more to Skeleton Crew and how it fits into the Mandoverse timeline. This show is integral to whatever Ahsoka and The Mandalorian are building towards, and there's a possibility we'll see major characters from the two shows show up at some point.
Could Din Djarin and Grogu make a surprise appearance in Skeleton Crew? Any possible cameos are under wraps, and Star Wars rarely reveals them in promotional content. However, there have been rumors that Nevarro will be among the worlds the kids will visit, which might mean an appearance or two by Din Djarin and Grogu on the cards. There's also a chance Ahsoka's main characters, such as Hera Syndulla, Jacen Syndulla, Zeb Orrelios, Chopper, and even Ezra Bridger could appear in an episode. Furthermore, filming on Skeleton Crew was completed before Carl Weathers passed away, and it would be great to see Greef Karga on our screens should the series take us back to Nevarro.
There are bound to be several planets featured in a show about kids navigating various worlds they've never been to, so there should be plenty of world-building. While every fan welcomes the return of planets like Tatooine, Coruscant, and Nevarro, hopefully, Skeleton Crew will take us back to planets that haven't been seen much in live-action and revive our childlike wonder of exploring new worlds through the eyes of children.
Skeleton Crew premieres December 3 on Disney+.
